Our Team — The Current

Wajiha Imran

Hi, my name is Wajiha and I am a fourth-year Med Sci student from Brampton. I have always been drawn to books (my personal favourite? The Shatter Me trilogy) and from there I moved on to writing stories, and well, the rest is history. I enjoy playing soccer and volleyball and am currently rewatching Grey’s Anatomy for the 3rd time (what can I say, it’s a classic). In my free time, you can find me enjoying a mango dragon fruit refresher (with two pumps of raspberry) or taking power naps between classes. I am so excited to be Editor-in-Chief for The Current this year and I hope to not only educate the student body about relevant news/information, but also get back into writing!

Jiya Gangwani

Hi everyone! My name is Jiya Gangwani and I'm in my third year of Medical Sciences! I've always been a writer from a young age, and love expressing my ideas through my words. Some of my hobbies include reading, baking, and binge-watching TV shows. I love thrillers, and mysteries -- and I could talk about possible theories for hours on end. I am so excited to be a part of The Current's team this year and am looking forward to writing some cool stories!

Kristen Perry

Hi, I’m Kristen! I’m in my fourth year of Integrated Science, specializing in Chemistry. Outside of the lab, you can find me trying out new dessert recipes in the kitchen, exploring downtown with my friends, or watching my favourite reality TV shows. I’m very excited to be back on The Current as a writer for my final year at Western!

Shreya Parmar

My name is Shreya and I am a senior writer on the Current, entering my second year of medical sciences. I am passionate about staying informed of current events in the news, both for entertainment and education! Being a writer under SSC lets me share the most interesting tid bits with the science community, whether that is breakthroughs in research, upcoming technologies, or opinion pieces about student experiences here at Western. In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, and volunteering.
