I’m Anusha, a second year medical sciences student, passionate about scientific writing! In my spare time, I love watching sunsets, lifeguarding at the pool, and writing editorials on current issues. I am super excited to work with The Current and publish some informative article!

Shreya Parmar

My name is Shreya and I am a 3rd year student and Senior Writer on The Current! You can find me either reading the news/ a new book, or spending time outside with my dog. I’m passionate about staying informed on current events in the world and making connections to our own lives. I am excited to work with the team this year and publish some great articles!

Soumiya Sivasathiyanathan

I’m Soumiya, in fourth-year Neuroscience, excited about biopharmacology research and neurotechnology development. I’m currently involved in pain and neuroimmunology research—please reach out if you’re curious. Alongside refining my science communication chops, I’m keen to make opportunities and student resources more accessible with The Current. Beyond the books, playing with my Dobie, indulging in sci-fi/psychological thrillers, and nurturing my caffeine addiction are ways I love to spend my time.

My name is Carla Antenor, and I am currently in my 4th year of Medical Sciences at Western. In my spare moment I love to knit and crochet! One of my favourite things to do when stressed is bake or cook, as I enjoy learning new recipes. I also enjoy traveling, and I hope to travel across Europe one day.

Safa Awed

Hey everyone! I’m Safa, a second-year Integrated Science student specialising in Synthetic Biology. While I’m all about science, I’ve always had a soft spot for English. Outside of class, you’ll usually find me with a good book or writing something of my own. I’m especially into Fantasy (thanks to Harry Potter) and Historical fiction. Can’t wait to share more with you all!

Ekroop Grewal

Hey everyone! I’m in my 2nd year of medsci and it's my 2nd time being on the SSC! I was in my highschool’s newspaper where I fell in love with scientific writing and research and investigating different issues affecting the student body. I am from Brampton and have played badminton since I was kid. I’m really passionate about advocacy and science so I am really glad to be a part of the team to be able to share my perspectives!

Dania Liu

Hello! I joined The Current because as a science student, I want to write more creative pieces than lab reports. I am excited to share my experiences during my second year of med sci. In my spare time, I like to boulder and fall off the wall, strum random chords on the guitar, and stare at my bearded dragon. I hope my articles will resonate with others, and if they do, I will leave my dragon in peace.

Mora Tiab

I was born in Egypt and moved to Canada when I was four. I’m hoping to become an oncologist! I enjoy studying with LoFi music and I love playing soccer and piano. I’m looking forward to learning how to cook more meals this year!

Olivia Li

Hey, I’m Olivia! I’m a first-year Medical Sciences student and a Designer for The Current. I’m super passionate about science and art and love finding ways to bring them together. Fun fact: I have a studygram! I started it as a creative outlet to inspire others, and I hope that my work for The Current can do the same :)

Hi! I’m Shuruithi and I’m currently going into my second year of Med Sci. I love baking and watching Netflix in my free time. I can’t wait to be a part of The Current and use my design skills to connect and inform Western’s science students!

Hi I’m Danielle! I am currently a third year medical sciences student studying physiology. Although I study science, I have always had a passion for art and I love to draw in my spare time!
